In a Facebook post announcing her academic achievement, she revealed that she was determined to make her mark, despite the challenges.
She wrote:
“Today, I graduated with a PhD in Computer Science from KNUST. It has not been easy but God has been faithful. I am very grateful to my family and loved ones for encouraging me to go this far. We made history together! I am the first female to graduate with a PhD in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science, KNUST.“
Rose-Mary is proud of her accomplishment and wants other women to know that they can achieve their goals too.
“For me, the most important is to hold the door for many ladies to pass through! There have been ups and downs. I have had to combine my studies (both Masters(abroad) and PhD with taking care of my children and managing my home. Several women have done it and I have also been able to do it.“
Computer Science is largely a male-dominated field but we are changing the narrative! So don’t give up, push harder and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Congratulations to all those graduating today!!!
Her achievement is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and intelligence. She is an inspiration to all women who are pursuing careers in computer science.
