Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II was born on May 6, 1950. He ascended to the throne of the Ashanti Kingdom in Ghana on April 26, 1999. Early Life and Education

Born as Nana Barima Kwaku Duah, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II received his early education at the Osei Tutu Boarding School in Kumasi. He demonstrated exceptional academic abilities and leadership qualities in the boarding school. His keen intellect and innate sense of duty set the foundation for his later role as a revered traditional leader.

After completing his basic school in Kumasi, he enrolled at the Sefwi Wiaso Secondary School, where he graduated with a “O” Level in 1964. His secondary school of choice was Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School (OKESS).

At the former Institute of Professional Studies in Accra, currently known as the University of Professional Studies, he studied accounting.

The Polytechnic of North London (now London Metropolitan University), where he eventually attended, is where he ultimately received his diploma in management and administration. On January 11, 2006, the university presented him with an honorary degree in a ceremony held at the Barbican Center.
