Everything You Need to Know About KNUST Transcripts for 2023/2024
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) offers an online service for students and alumni to request and manage their transcripts. This article will help you understand KNUST’s interpretation of the Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA) and guide you through the transcript application process.
KNUST’s Interpretation of CWA
KNUST uses a grading system known as the Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA). From the first semester, every student starts with a CWA of 100.00. The CWA for a first-year, first-semester student is calculated by dividing the total cumulative weighted marks by the cumulative credits. The score or marks percentage is then multiplied by the course credit hour.

The KNUST grading system evaluates students’ marks using the CWA. This system calculates a student’s weighted average grades, which can then be expressed as a final grade in the form of a percentage.
Here’s a breakdown of the grading system:
- First class: a CWA of 70.00 and above
- Second class upper: a CWA of 60.00 to 69.99
- Second class lower: a CWA of 50.00 to 59.99
- Pass: a CWA of 40.00 to 49.99
