KNUST BSc. Actuarial Science cut off points & requirements 2023

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Actuarial Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is a prestigious opportunity for individuals passionate about mathematics, finance, and risk management. To secure admission into this program, it’s crucial to understand the cut-off points and requirements for the year 2023.

Cut-off Points

Cut-off points represent the minimum academic performance a candidate must attain in their Senior High School (SHS) education to be eligible for admission. KNUST’s BSc. Actuarial Science program cut of point is 11.

General Admission Requirements

In addition to the cut-off points, there are several other requirements that applicants must meet to be considered for admission into the BSc. Actuarial Science program at KNUST:

  1. WASSCE/SSSCE Qualifications

Prospective students must have at least six (6) credit passes (A1-C6 for WASSCE and A-D for SSSCE) in core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science. Additionally, candidates must have credit passes in three (3) elective subjects relevant to the program of study.

  1. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

Applicants with GCE Advanced Level qualifications must have passes in at least five (5) subjects at the Ordinary Level, including English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, candidates must have three (3) passes at the Advanced Level in relevant subjects.

  1. International Baccalaureate (IB) Qualifications

Candidates with IB qualifications must have a minimum of grade 4 in English Language, Mathematics, and a relevant science subject.

  1. Other Qualifications

Candidates with other equivalent qualifications (e.g., American High School Diploma, etc.) may be considered for admission, provided their qualifications are evaluated and deemed equivalent by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana.

WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS Entry Requirements

Core Subjects: Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.
Elective Subjects: Credit passes in Mathematics and any TWO (2) Elective Subjects.

‘A’ LEVEL AND EQUIVALENT Entry Requirements

‘O’ Level or equivalent: Credit passes in FIVE (5) subjects including English
Language, Mathematics, and Additional/Elective Mathematics, and
‘A’ Level or equivalent: Credit passes in THREE (3) subjects including Mathematics.

MATURE APPLICANTS Entry Requirements

Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of the application.
Applicants must satisfy the general requirements for the programme (i.e WASSCE/SSSCE, or ‘A’ Level, or HND/Diploma)
Short-listed applicants may take an Entrance Examination and pass an interview.

HND AND OTHER DIPLOMA

Applicants must have a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division in the following programmes: Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or any programme with the Mathematical Sciences with evidence of Mathematical or qualitative ability.
