KNUST BSc. Physics cut off points & requirements 2023

Cut-off Points: What You Need to Know

Cut-off points serve as the minimum academic standard a prospective student must attain in their Senior High School (SHS) education to be eligible for admission into a particular program. 17 is the cut off point for this program.

General Admission Requirements

In addition to the cut-off points, there are other prerequisites that applicants must meet to be considered for admission into the BSc. Physics program at KNUST:

  1. WASSCE/SSSCE Qualifications

Prospective students must have at least six (6) credit passes (A1-C6 for WASSCE and A-D for SSSCE) in core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science. Additionally, candidates must have credit passes in three (3) elective subjects relevant to the program of study.

  1. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

Applicants with GCE Advanced Level qualifications must have passes in at least five (5) subjects at the Ordinary Level, including English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, candidates must have three (3) passes at the Advanced Level in relevant subjects.

  1. Other Qualifications

Candidates with other equivalent qualifications (e.g., American High School Diploma, etc.) may be considered for admission, provided their qualifications are evaluated and deemed equivalent by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana.

WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS Entry Requirements

Core Subjects: Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated
Science.
Elective Subjects: Credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Electronics.

‘A’ LEVEL AND EQUIVALENT Entry Requirements

‘O’ Level or equivalent: Credit passes in FIVE (5) subjects including English
Language and Mathematics, and
‘A’ Level or equivalent: Credit passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.

MATURE APPLICANTS Entry Requirements

Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of the application.
Applicants must satisfy the general requirements for the programme (i.e., WASSCE/SSSCE, or ‘A’ Level, or HND/Diploma)
Short-listed applicants may take an Entrance Examination and pass an interview.
